What is your perception of self-love? “In my experience, self love is the daily practice of removing any internal and external forces, ideas, thoughts or people that do not serve your heart, mind, body and soul in a positive way.”
Nuyork moved to Alabama at the age of 15 when her drive helped her win a student internship at WEUP-FM. While still a student at Alabama A&M, she began hosting at WHRP-FM. Soon after, she became a co-host on the “BuckWilde Morning show” JAMZ in Birmingham. After several ownership changes, she began hosting her current show “Midday Access with Nuyork,” and she serves as interim, Program Director.
She also worked in Greenville, doing Mid-days at Hot 98.1.
In 2015 she was named “Radio Personality of the Year” by the Alabama Broadcasters Association’s “Abby” awards, and four other Large Market category awards for “Best Morning Show” from 2010 to 2013.
Her community service includes speaking at schools and colleges about the importance of education. She serves as a mentor through her own internship program. She is a founder of G.L.O.W. (Girls Living On Willpower), whose goal is to support young women by encouraging positive choices in appearance, morality and academic achievement.
