Jasmine Sanders

Jasmine Sanders is a rare find. Once seen on a network that reached over 20 million households as Co-Host of Centric TV’s lifestyle show, “Culture List”, her voice now graces the airwaves in over 50 markets across the country with one of the Original Kings of Comedy and TV Superstar, D.L. Hughley. As Co-Host of the top-ranked and Nationally Syndicated “The D.L Hughley Show”, Jasmine is a force to be reckoned with.

With over 15 years of media experience, including a highly rated Midday show at New York’s legendary WBLS, JASMINE has been consistently making a name for herself. This award-winning broadcast talent was Co-host of the formally nationally syndicated “Skip Murphy In The Afternoon” and “Afternoon Jam Session with Brian McKnight” as well as a staple on radio stations in major cities. Paris Nicole

Paris Nicole is one of the most recognized up and coming Program Directors in the industry. The Howard Alum does double duty as PD and the Midday talent on 103.9 Hip Hop, WPHI-FM/Philadelphia, becoming the youngest PD at Radio One. She started at Radio One in 2010, working her way up from intern to top-rated on-air personality. Currently, she hosts her daily midday show from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Nicole assumed the position of APD in 2016.

Tammi Mac

The 3 time NAACP award-winning, Tammi Mac was hand-picked by the legendary Stevie Wonder to host the number one afternoon radio show, “The Tammi Mac Show” from 3-7 pm daily on his Los Angeles owned 102.3 KJLH. “The Tammi Mac Show” is rated number one in Los Angeles with African Americans. The Tammi Mac Show is not only relegated to radio. Mac has struck a deal with Fox TV’s new digital platform Fox Soul, to bring the “Tammi Mac Late Show” to television (digitally), every night on Fox Soul.TV and KTVU San Francisco. Mac is also a beast on the big and small screen as she has recurred on the Lee Daniels FOX TV show, STAR, and recurs on the Netflix show On My Block and has co-starred on BET’s Games People Play. She has appeared in over a dozen national television commercials, currently Toyota, McDonald’s, and even an Amazon SuperBowl commercial with Ellen DeGeneras. Mac’s one-woman show, Bag Lady has garnered, Best One Person Show, Best Playwright, and Best Producer awards. The show was commissioned by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and has toured nationally. Angela Stribling

We are celebrating Angela for many reasons. She’s at the center of historic Black music culture as a prominent radio and TV icon who hosted BET’s “Screen Scene,” Co-Hosted alongside Donnie Simpson on “Video Soul and became a significant trendsetter of the Quiet Storm with the late Melvin Lindsey.

Angela Stribling helped launch the 24-hour jazz network called BET JAZZ which included Jazz Central, Jazz Scene, and Jazz Discovery. We choose the month of June to feature Ms. Stribling during National Black Music Month for her contributions in addition to her growing fame as a global recording artist.
Her distinctive sultry voice is magical in her latest single “Pillow Talk” which is produced by multiple Grammy award winners Marcus Miller featuring Will Downing and Gerald Albright.

Angela has traveled the world with other renowned musicians and entertainers. She recorded two CD’s including “Live At The Blue Note”, and “Tokyo Sundays.” Other music collaborations include the legendary Stevie Wonder, saxophonist Kim Waters, and pianist Marcus Johnson, NAJEE #VanMorrison #HoraceSilver

Angela is often compared with artists Phyliss Hyman, Erykah Badu, and Sade.

Jackie Paige

For the month of May, Black Women in Radio (BWIR) has chosen is highlight Jackie Paige. Paige began her radio career in college at Hampton University’s WHOV 88.1. Paige says beginning her career in college radio helped give her the foundational information she needed when she began her career in professional radio. Presently, she hosts middays in 3 markets including WKYAS in D.C. where she lives, and 92.7 The Block in Charlotte, and Ipower 92.1/104.1 in Richmond, but what she aspires to do is take her show on the road and work overseas someday. Paige says being recognized by BWIR is a mind-blowing honor for her. She believes BWIR is necessary because radio is a very competitive industry, so it is very important for others to see us being a voice, making a difference, and representing us. Ironically, she believes she does not think she would be where she is now if she were a male because the station that gave her a start was looking specifically for a female.

“Working in radio has taught me that my purpose is to serve. I am a server whether it is making someone laugh, or motivating them to work-out,” said Paige.

She adds, “Serving the community, is something that radio should continue to do because it is important for radio to experience the highs and lows of the community.” Speaking of serving, Paige devotes her time to helping young women through her work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and The James House. One common misconception listeners have about Paige is that they think radio makes her “sound taller.”

“I don’t understand that. I’m short, like 5’1 short and I also love to eat. Yes, I do workout A LOT to promote health, fitness, and wellness, but I love having a medium pizza and some fries from time to time,” she said.

Perhaps it is because of her love for an occasional pizza and fries that she began offering free virtual Zumba and HIT (high intensity interval training) classes during the pandemic.

“When I started [in radio], I never would have imagined someone saying, Jackie, you are a black woman doing some great things in radio. Wow, just wow!”
